Consistent performance, sustainable impact: SolarWorld AG combines economic success with social responsibility and environmental protection and was the recipient of the German Sustainability Award. The group, by making it possible to completely recycle solar power modules, is making a key contribution to environmentally friendly value retention and has closed the production loop.
As an international group of companies, we attach particular importance to sustainable management. It is a fundamental principle of the SolarWorld group and thereby the basis of our group strategy.
Sustainability consists of a comprehensive approach to corporate management, implying that economic, ecological and social factors are considered in all areas. Sustainable corporate management is, for instance, reflected in Total Productive Management, in Quality Management, in Environmental Management, in Customer Relationship Management, in Health and Safety Management as well as in Risk Management. To guarantee transparency in our activities, we decided to report according to the framework of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).In 2009, SolarWorld signed the ten principles of the United Nations’ Global Compact as the first purely solar company worldwide and published the first communication on progress. Reporting
Only such a comprehensive approach allows for a better anticipation of opportunities and risks. We are therefore convinced that broadly based sustainability management will produce crucial innovative and competitive advantages in the future and will do so not only in industrialized countries but also in developing and threshold countries. For us, these regions are particular importance when it comes to opening up new markets. To globally promote awareness about the need for resource and climate protection, we undertake projects that are socially relevant. Socio-political commitment
In our code of conduct, we lay down our basic ethical principles, rules and recommendations for behavior that apply to all employees and board members. It defines our working practices, our procedures to ensure compliance with human rights and our acceptance of social responsibility and product responsibility.
